read the RFCs more than once.
Plus all the interim I-Ds that were Not Quite Right.
Plus the mailing list discussions of all the different ideas that were
not adopted but which some experts argue are better.
Plus all the "How-To" blog pages asserting Wrong Things from people who
misread RFCs.
Which pieces of those diverse documents you get is determined by
statistical weighting that no one really can explain in any specific
case.
Sure, it will all get better.
