We (StartMail) don't do anything fancy for serving our MX records, but it does appear that some domains our customers try to send messages to have silly filters on their DNS infra preventing us from making queries directly from our servers hosted in Dutch data centers. This does not appear to be broken DNSSEC or our upstream provider having a poor reputation, it really seems to be geoblocking, and confirmed by tools as DNS Checker and RIPE Atlas. Needless to say we have implemented some workarounds to fall back to third party resolvers for such domains, and most of the time we are able to deliver to the MX records we find using those external resolvers. Note that this is mostly about American organisations.
