Please open the Gears settings dialogue by clicking the Mailplane->Google
Gears settings menu item. Then check if http://mail.google.com and
https://mail.google.com is in the list and is allowed to use Gears.
Plus: Check Preferences/Advanced/Enable Google Gears for "Offline Gmail", it
should be enabled.
