I've had to stop using Mailplane as of late because it crashes constantly on
me. I've moved back to using Chrome and Safari (depending on what mood I am
in at the time), and just keep 4 tabs open, (Mail, Calendar, Tasks canvas,
and Docs).

The only feature I really miss from Mailplane is the ability to drag and
drop attachments. (But I have a feeling that this is coming with the
proposals that Google has in for HTML5).

If Mailplane could provide me a non-crashy, integrated experience (like what
I detail above), I'd move back to using it.

No, I do not consider Google Labs a solution, as I do not have access to
Google Labs, so don't even suggest it.
