Scott,

I had not noticed that problem you described.  So, I tried to
replicate it.  I created an email message and attached a .docx file.
It attached it as such.  Then I emailed it to another account I had.
It was received as .docx and opened just fine.  I wonder if there
could be another reason for the problem you described.  I did not have
it.
