fwiw, I experience the same issue regularly as well.  OS X 10.5,
Mailplane 2.1.4 (1298), Gears 0.5.33.0, offline-enabled.  Mailplane is
awesome enough that so far it's been worth restarting the app several
times per day, but it's not fun! :)
