Unfortunately, Google Gears, the technology that enabled Offline Mail in
Mailplane, is no longer supported by Google.  You can try and follow the
directions at

http://mailplaneapp.com/howto/entry/enable_offline_gmail/

and if you're using Snow Leopard, you can try and use the "unofficial"
google gears from

http://mailplaneapp.com/download/google_gears/

However the results have been mixed.  Some people seem to be able to get it
to work, others not so much. (personally I belong to the 2nd group.).
