I am sorry for the confusion. The 1528 build has the wrong version "name". Instead of "2.2.2-preview1" the version name is "2.2.1". Next preview will fix the version name.
The preview auto-update was broken for about 2 hours. As Jeff pointed out: In case you are not able to update, please go to http://mailplaneapp.com/download/preview/ and download the latest preview version. Thanks.
