Look at it this way. Mailplane is $24.95 US. The developer has done a lot of work to make an awesome app that continues to grow in its value and functionality. Now you can purchase the app and continue to use it and benefit from it or, you can keep waiting around for a freebee that Google may or may not ever develop and, because it would be free, would never have same kind of priority for Mac users that Mailplane gives us,
I think it is a no brainer. Mailplane is well worth the $25 whatever Google does down the road.
