Gist provides a Gmail Gadget, which should work inside Mailplane.
The trick is to ⌘-Click the GIST links.

They provide a Chrome and Firefox plugin, but I didn't see Safari on their
list.
Though Mailplane doesn't directly support Safari plugins, it would be the
starting point of an integration.
