Understood. The problem is that naming something the same in two menus violates 
apple ux guidelines (and makes it impossible to set a key command)

Thanks for the problem report.
Edit > Delete is for deleting text, while File > Delete (or Discard) is used
for discarding message drafts or delete messages.
