When running under Lion Mailplane uses the same WebKit as Safari. The same error could be duplicated in 10.6.8/10.7.0 and Safari 5.1. I'm not sure about 10.7.1, though.
Which version are you running? (safari & osx)? Tip: If it happens again, please try 'u' to go back to the overview. If nothing helps, try "View > reload page".
