Thanks for the problem report. I tried to duplicate the issue, but I got the chat notifications (see attached screenshot). It could be temporary Gmail issue. Does it still happen?
Please try this: - ⌘Click the "Calendar" link at the top, this will open a Calendar window inside Mailplane and will establish a calendar session. - Do you get notifications inside Safari?
