You can use any of the options, none will destroy or hurt anything. I have
just gotten in the habit of pressing command-M which will throw it into the
dock and it will disappear from the dock in 30 seconds or whatever your
setting is.

Don't save will get rid of it right away, there will still be a copy in
your sent items, and all your emails will be fine, but you lose the ability
to undo at that point.

I do wish there was a way to close the window and have it just go away as I
am sure I won't want to undo it.
