Is mailplane code signature still intact? If it's broken, then it is not allowed to access the keychain or perform certain actions.
Here's how you can check: 1. Open Terminal 2. Enter and press Return: cd /Applications 3. Enter codesign -vvvv Mailplane.app 4. What's the result?
