As for the chats, there currently isn't the option but it's on our list. I will forward your comments and hopefully we will see it soon. I know we have several requests for the notifications. As for the Growl/Notification Center, I know that this was done purposely to simplify. 10.7-Growl, 10.8- notification center. I will forward this on as well, but can't make any promises for certain.
