Hi Trace; If you're happy with Mailplane 2, feel free to use it as long as you would like! :) We are trying to support it for as long as we can. Though with the older OS X's, you may begin to experience troubles that we can no longer fix (out of our control). By older, I mean 10.4 at the moment....
There are some new features to Mailplane 3 that aren't in MP2 (logging into multiple accounts simultaneously, opening Calendar in its own tab, some new plugins, etc...) If you haven't given the free trial a go, please do. (Mailplaneapp.com) That way you can see first hand if you like the changes enough to upgrade! Let me know if you have any questions.
