I'm having the exact same issue and list mode doesn't make any difference. 
 It just started doing this tonight and it's driving me nuts.  The only way 
to attach a file is to go outside of Mailplane and open Gmail in my 
browser.  There it works fine but in mailplane it wants to attach the 
entire folder.

Help!
