This position involves support and maintenance of assigned primary areas of
our client's Windows, UNIX and applications environment. The Unix
Administrator will provide secondary backup for other systems administrator
areas and handle escalated help desk issues.



*Key Responsibilities:*

•Provide a managed and documented platform for Standard, Point-of-Use,
Special and Custom software.

•Monitor and report server performance and reliability. Analyze network and
system related problems, perform troubleshooting and promptly implement
solutions. Maintain system history documentation.

•Provide comprehensive enterprise-wide security protocols to ensure data and
system security.

•Manage all software license activities to assure compliance with vendor
agreements, copyright laws and other regulations.

•Coordinate and follow-up with all vendor communications, procurement,
installations, repairs and upgrades to insure the client's needs are being
met.

•Formulate, train and maintain policies and procedures relevant to the daily
operations (e.g.: shutdown) and long term planning Participate on teams and
provide input to evolving architecture, methods and computing strategy.

•Provide assistance as required to other System Administrators and I.S.
personnel.



*Knowledge/Experience:*

• B.S. degree (or any equivalent combination of experience or training).

• Successful completion of a Certified Vendor Program for System
Administration • Successful completion of Database Administration training
in a networked environment.

• 4 years experience in a networked environment supporting multiple
protocols.

• Four years experience as a systems administrator, supporting a
multi-server, multi-protocol computing environment of 100+ users.

• Two years experience in the design and implementation of databases in a
networked environment • Able to provide solutions to complex problems,
utilizing tools, methodologies and refined troubleshooting techniques

• Shell scripting is a requirement.

• Some programming experience is desirable.

• Must be able to effectively communicate with clients, vendors and other
I.S. personnel.

• Must have the ability to participate or lead a team to successfully
achieve defined goals.

• Must be able to work independently under general supervision and be
cognizant of impact on clients.

• Must have the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
