We have the following requirement for a Cognos Developer/Designer --only
local candidates will be considered.

Duration:  5 months

Location:  Redmond, Washington

 

Please only submit candidates who are local to the Redmond area.

 

Required

 

Responsible for design and development of solutions utilizing Cognos and
various other BI applications across various platforms. 

Looks beyond the request to add functionality to an existing application by
providing new ways of delivering the requested functionality. 

Provides suggestions on process improvements for the BI process. 

Analyze defects on BI applications and processes to provide solutions to
prevent recurrence. 

Continues to evaluate current designs with latest BI technology. 

Provides guidance and recommendations for new BI applications/releases under
consideration in the BI application space. 

Ensures the designs being proposed are lowering the cost of support in the
future. 

 

POSITION ACTIVITIES AND TASKS 

Designs BI software solutions and provide work estimates

 .Lead the design sessions

.Receive and interpret specifications, priorities and deadlines

 .Interfaces with customers and other Business groups to determine
requirements

 .Designs, builds and documents BI data models, ETL and other data flow
components 

.Identify data sources, enhancements, and areas of work required to achieve
the needs specified

 .Designs, builds and documents BI front end components and reporting and
analytics deployment models

 .Design, develop, document and maintain cubes based on specifications. 

.Reviews logical and physical data model for data integrity, performance,
recoverability, maintenance, and space requirement consideration

.Coordinates with all cross-functional groups when enhancements and
maintenance of applications are necessary

 .Plan Technical integration tests / participate in integration tests
.Identifies, analyzes, prioritizes, assigns and/or resolves business and
technical issues

 .Provide analytical leadership in assessing impact of requested changes to
the BI Model

 .Evaluate application software packages and make recommendations to
management

 .Participate in new product reviews, tests, and pilots .Identify
conflicting business practices and integration issues

 .Provides development work estimates based on current estimating
methodology

 .Provides consistency in design across all BI developments to ensure
maximum reuse 

2. Provides liaison duties with Business process teams

 .Evaluates functional specifications for completeness and clarity and
determines technical direction or high level design

 .Works with Business teams to understand business process flow and
determine functional requirements for new custom development 

.Trains users on how to extract the information that they need from the BI
tools 

3. Quality Assurance, Project Management and Mentoring 

.Technical Specification reviews

 .Ensures code is designed to specifications, provides feedback to other
developers when appropriate 

.Consults in the areas such as functional and technical design, coding, and
testing

 .Supports the SDLC through design, testing code, debugging, cutover and
documentation 

.Updates Development Standards as new technologies are added to the
environment 

5. Research, Management, Troubleshooting, and Communication Activities

 .Prepare status reports and maintains effective communication with
management 

.Work assignments are completed on time according to dates/ milestones in
the project plan 

.Research and stay abreast of current and emerging technologies 

.Support and trouble shoot production issues as required
