He is looking for someone who has the grass roots knowledge of doing ETL and data scrubbing work the manual way. We are using PL/SQL for ETL. Someone who grew up on the mainframe and transitioned to client server would be a great fit. Successful candidates will need to know Oracle intimately and have also learned the tools. Should be an Oracle guru with advanced PL/SQL skills as the emphasis and intimate with data warehousing and data mart concepts as the most important part Candidate should have Linux (not unix only). Show in the resume where the candidate used the various skills requested in the requirement. The candidate with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities will need to start as soon as possible. Work Summary The candidate filling this Data Warehouse Analyst-Senior position will be responsible for the full functional knowledge of the Data Warehouse concepts, development, and design. The candidate will recommend solutions, test solutions, gain acceptance for solutions, and negotiate/coordinate across multiple organizations for timely and cost effective deployment of Business Intelligence applications. The candidate must possess technical skills, architecture/infrastructure skills, and project management/coordination skills. Responsibilities: The candidate filling this Data Warehouse Analyst/Developer-Senior position will: Full functional knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts, development, and design Development of ETL solutions for legacy and new development Provide business expertise for the development of Business Intelligence solutions. Provides technical expertise to the development and implementation of solutions using basic dimensional modeling techniques. Make recommendations for improvements in these areas, if necessary. Provides technical support for existing Data Warehouse ETL processes. Assures quality of design and implementation of projects. Trouble-shoots application software/hardware problems as they apply to design, implementation, or installation activities. Schedules and coordinates application maintenance activities. Participates in on-call, overnight off-hour production problem resolution activities. Follows DMS related standards and procedures, knows where they are located, and incorporates them. Follows ETS software development processes. Researches, evaluates, and tests new software and DW related tools and facilities as they pertain to the existing DW environment and applications. Monitors current DW applications and develops procedures, where necessary, to improve the DW environment as required. Identifies and supports quality improvement initiatives. Performs other assignments to comply with the SR&T corporate purpose and mission to add business value, increase revenue, decrease costs, improve productivity, and support the strategic initiative/directive. Complies with all ETS security and audit standards. Manages the work of ETS vendors to achieve quality results at a market based price using ETS SR&T policies and procedures. Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience: The ideal candidate must have: 8-10 years of experience in computer science or information technology Minimum 5 years of applicable Data Warehouse experience Prefer 5 years advanced Oracle/SQL experience Full functional knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts, development, and design Development of ETL solutions for legacy and new development Full functional knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts, development, and design Development of ETL solutions for legacy and new development Good interpersonal skills in order to interact with clients, technical staff, and third parties. Good oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail. Must have extensive knowledge in advanced Oracle PL/SQL to maintain existing processes and create new ETL processes. Must have extensive Oracle knowledge for performance tuning.
