good news on virtualization of Solaris 8 and 9 x86: the new VMware
vSphere 4.0 (formerly known as ESX Server) is going to support
all versions of Solaris 8 and 9 x86:
Solaris 9, Update 1, Update 2, Update 3, Update 4, Update 5, Update 6,
Update 7, and Update 8, 32-bit. (experimental) See “Solaris 9
Operating
System x86 Platform Edition” on page 406.
Solaris 8, 06/00, 10/00, 01/01, 04/01, 07/01, 10/01, and 02/02, 32-bit
(experimental). See “Solaris 8 Operating System x86 Platform
Edition” on
page 409.
This will allow us to make good use of faster hardware and testing
servers on demand :-)
