One more thing: Perl complains:

perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
LC_ALL = "en_US.UTF-8",
LANG = "en_US.UTF-8"
are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").
Pkgutil 1.5, install Solaris packages the easy way.
Usage: pkgutil [option]... [package](-[version])...

On my boxes, it doesn't complain at all.
that's a matter of the installed (available) locales. The requested
UTF-8 locales are currently just not installed on the login box.

keep the installed languages not longer than necessary.
