Yes, let's go back to the original issue. What we've established so far is that we cannot reasonably depend on SUNW packages. In the case of cups, the slp package is not part of the core Solaris install, and therefore it's a library that will be likely missing during cups installs. I've built openslp with the intention to provide OpenCSW's own version of libslp. My openslp packages have been rejected on the grounds that they aren't any better than what's already in Solaris. My argument is that you cannot guarantee that the stock libslp will be there, while you can guarantee this for an OpenCSW provided library. What good is Solaris libslp if it's not there? Therefore, I argue that OpenCSW libslp is better, because it's guaranteed to be in the filesystem thanks to dependency mechanisms. I would like to ask for permission to release openslp and link cups against it, until a better solution comes along. _______________________________________________ maintainers mailing list [email protected] https://lists.opencsw.org/mailman/listinfo/maintainers .:: This mailing list's archive is public. ::.
