I recently learned (from a podcast) that Freenode does group registrations. It gives better protection of the channel, because it binds our channel with a specific person, authenticated by a GPG key. It also establishes an official OpenCSW presence on Freenode[1]. I've just sent the registration form, and I'm waiting for reply from Freenode admins.
