If one wanted to be lazy about the updates, it's worth noting that not
ALL "133 packages" need to be recompiled.
Only packages that intersect with other packages, that use new jpeg.
And even of those, they can be prioritized into sets.

1. kde packages
  (actually, I'm not sure the kde packages intersect with "newer" jpeg
at all. this may be ignorable)

2. gnome packages  (30 of them?)

Probably the rest do not "need" to be recompiled, although of course
it would be nice.
