This past weekend, the 2nd Sport Psych Training/Regatta Series took
place at St. Mary's College of MD. Sailors from 6 different sailing
teams have been doing mental training for 14 weeks and returned for a
second assessment of sailing skills, mental skills, and race results.
Sailors had been divided into 3 different training programs (using
different CD-ROM's twice per week).

I'd like to thank St. Mary's College for their support (which came in
MANY ways), our sponsors (The Boathouse in Maine, The Dinghy Shop in NY,
Stormboarding in VT, Moorehouse Sails in NJ, and Annapolis Performance
Sailing in MD) for providing many cool prizes that enticed people to
follow through with their training, the Navy coaches for their
logistical support, my group of volunteer observers, and the many others
who made this series/project become a reality.

A summary of racing results is attached.

Highlights included:
1st Place (Combined from both events): Valen Smith and Galen Brew (SMC)
1st Place for this weekend: Matt Offut and Bridgin Lee (SMC)
Most Improved between Events: Matt Offut and Bridgin Lee (SMC)
Best Improvement Downwind for weekend: Scott Grandt and Casey Williams
(Cornell)
Most Improved/Dedicated Crew Performance: Bridgin Lee (SMC)
Most Improved/Dedicated Skipper Performance: Ian Gill (Navy)
Most Dedicated Mental Trainees: Scott Grandt (Cornell), Laura Graham
(Cornell), Tonie Domino (Washington College), Seth K. Olson (Washington
College), Dave Parker (Navy) **raffle winner**

Once I have all forms back from everyone, I will provide a full written
explanation (in layman's terms) of the theoretical rationalle and
methodology of what we did. Once all my data is together, I'll also
provide individual performance profiles so participants can look at
their pre/post scores on everything and see how they compared with group
norms.

Regards,
Tim Herzog, M.S., Ed.M.
