To all teams attending the Tom Curtis Regatta this weekend their are a few important things to know before you arrive at the Washington Sailing Marina.
#1 - Skippers meeting will occur on the deck outside the store and snack bar exactly at 9:15AM. The marina opens at 9AM. If you want to arrive earlier that's fine but don't expect anything to be open. #2 - RP forms will be outside the snack bar at 9AM. We will make sure they stay available throughout the day but if you can't find them please be sure to ask the Georgetown coach or sailors for the RP's when you need to change them. #3 Parking - you can park in the main lot or inside the marina. If you park inside the marina please park at the end of the rows in the areas reserved for parking. If you park near the water or in front of a trailer you are parked in the wrong spot. #4 Changing - the Park Service has received complaints about college sailors changing outside. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with their rules we need to follow them. If you are changing please do so in your van or in the bathroom. Do not change out in public! No towels around the waist changing. Change in your car or in the bathrooms. Also, do not throw your bag behind your van in the parking lot or leave your back doors open and therefore prevent cars from passing. Also try not to make a spectacle hanging all your sailing gear all over your car. Please use common sense and remember that it is a national park and families will undoubtedly be using the marina this weekend. #5 Boats - we have new FJ's with fairly new sails. However, the Park Service does not allow us to keep our boats on the grass where they used to be. Our boats are now kept in dry slips scattered around the marina. We will do our best to bring the boats out of their slips at the beginning of the day. At the end of the day you will be given a slip location by the Georgetown Sailors where you must return your boat. Please make sure you put your boat in the right spot! #6 - Forecast - the forecast looks like it will be great weather with little or no wind. We will try our best to run fair races. There will most likely be a lot of down time. During that time please be good neighbors to the rest of the people at the marina and do not play around in the parking lot. Lie out on the grass, sit on the deck, read a book and have a nice time. Hopefully you will enjoy the scenery. Please let me know if you have any questions.
