Regatta Highlights:
Saturday- A southwesterly started the day off nice at about 5-8 knots.
Wind built through out the day with a front rolling that fortunately
didn't come through until late in the night. In the afternoon racing
was completed for the day after 4 rotations in 12 - 15 knots with higher
puffs that caused several capsizes and three DNFs. Beautiful sunshine
and temperatures in the 80s made for a great day on the water.
Corinthian Yacht Club provided a great buffet for sailors under the
tent after racing was completed.
One breakdown was filed and granted. One DSQ was given for crossing a
closed gate.
Sunday- We arrived to sustained winds of 22 knots and higher puffs at
9:30am. With the forecast for the wind to build into the afternoon and
only one crash boat available the decision was made to cancel racing for
the day in the interest of everyone's safety.
Thanks to the Drexel sailors and our coach who ran the race committee,
scoring, and helped get rotations off fast on Saturday. Also thanks to
Corinthian Yacht Club for providing the great sailing venue and
delicious food on Saturday.
