Okay, I found out what's going on. The K2600 and K2600ex do, as suspected, use CC32 for bank change commands as a default. It's possible to change this to use CC0, to segment things out into 128 patch banks, or to switch it to use the old K1000/Oberheim system for bank changes. I think leaving it on the default is the smartest move unless there's a serious reason to do something else. So K2600 banks will track upwards using low bank numbers -- 0, 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 respectively. (2 and 3 are left open for user RAM sounds and things loaded from disk, including samples from Ensoniq, E-mu, Akai, Roland, and Yamaha sources) If you use the 0/128/256 etc. scheme it'll return you only the first bank, programs 0-99. I've emailed James a zip package for the INST files for this instrument so the QWS user can set things up based on what his or her instrument has installed, so much of this won't be an issue as the work is already done. But for those who will wonder at the very low bank numbers, this is why.
