Dear MakeMaker,

When I ran cpan this morning, it reported that I was using ExtUtils::MakeMaker 6.21, and recommended an upgrade to 6.22 (from M/MS/MSCHWERN/ExtUtils-MakeMaker-6.22.tar.gz). I did so, and experienced no problems with the installation.

However, once I had done so, cpan reported that the version of ExtUtils::MM_MacOS was undef, and recommended an upgrade to 1.07 (from M/MS/MSCHWERN/ExtUtils-MakeMaker-6.21.tar.gz). Just to see what would happen I did so, and was not suprised to find myself back at ExtUtils::MakeMaker 6.21.

This seems odd enough to me that I thought a brief note was justified. The behaviour has been observed under the following conditions:

Perl: V5.8.1-RC3
cpan: 1.76
OS: MacOS 10.3.6 (= darwin 7.6).

Perl: V5.8.4
cpan; 1.7601
OS: MacOS 10.3.6 (= darwin 7.6).

Perl: V5.8.5
cpan: 1.7601
OS: cygwin 1.5.12-1 (under Windows 2000 SP4)

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Tom Wyant
