Subject: Sony to outlaw felt-tip marker pens?

  http://digitalmass.boston.com/news/2002/05/20/copy_proof_cds.html

Basically, Sony has come up with yet another bogus copy-protection scheme.
This one is (was) designed to prevent you from listening to your music CD in
your computer. Someone discovered that you can circumvent this "protection"
scheme by using a black felt-tip market to obscure areas on the CD.

It is worth noting that, under the provisions of the DMCA, Sony could sue
the manufacturer of the felt-tip pen in question, and obtain a court order
forcing production of said pen to cease, as it now qualifies as a "copyright
circumvention" device.
