Dia mau ngadalin kita, Takabonerate itu bukan di Flores, Flores Sea ya Laut
Flores yang memang juga punya terumbu karang yang sangat kaya akan biota
laut; International work shop tentang ornament fish yang pernah kami adakan
disana pada 1993 menemukenali disana terdapat lebih dari 200 species ikan
hias yang masih belum punya nama latin / ilmiah (belum dikenal oleh para
ilmuwan barat) hebat kan laut kita ni.
Nah kalau dia ngaku anak buah pak Pudjo itu perlu sanya ingat2 dulu, mungkin
dia pernah nyariin kolam untuk pak Pudjo kali (he he he...kagak sembuh2 ya),
yang masih saya ingat adalah bahwa pada 1993 pernah ada beberapa peneliti
kelautan dari singapura yang saya beri data potensi gamefish di Indonesia
(juga saya kirimkan ke IGFA dalam kapasitas saya selaku IGFA Rep. untuk
indonesia) dengan harapan akan banyak tourist angler yang datang untuk
mancing di Indonesia; dan saya banyak pengaruhi biro perjalanans untuk
mengemas paket mancing,....e-e-e-ee yang tertarik cuman si Robb (dapat
dimaklumi sih memang investasinya cukup besar sedangkan untuk mencapai bep
saja perlu waktu yang lama).
Waktu itu saya dorong agar pemerintah membangun (pilot project) Gamefishing
camp lengkap dengan SF fleet nya di Kupang; bahkan Sdr. Awin Mawardi waktu
itu akan membantu mendanai jasa konsultan yang rencananya akan kami
datangkan dari Australia (yang pernah menangani pengembangan Cairns); tetapi
semuanya berantakan gara2 waktu itu ada pergantian Direktur Jenderal
Pariwisata, dan yang baru itu tidak menyetujui program ini.
Jadi kalau ada temans tertarik ajak dong mereka komunikasi, coba kita tengok
kaya apa sih paket mancing di Takabonerate yang dia adakan itu; jangan2 dia
bikin web yang keren biar banyak dapat sponsor atawa pemasang iklan seperti
yang pernah dilakukan oleh orang singapura dengan menerbitkan majalah
mancing yang lux tetapi isinya gombal dan sekarang mungkin sudah almarhum.
(kalau majalah kita saya yakin belum almarhum tapi mungkin sedang sakaratul
maut....mudah2an ada pemancing dermawan yang mau memperpanjang sakaratul
mautnya).

Gue sih mau banget Ndra, cuma mesti nyelengi dulu, lima bulananlah.
Yang gue ragu adalah ini orang singapur ngaku sebagai anak buah pak Pudjo
(ditebalin).
TAKABONERATE ATOLL
- The Last Frontier.
Flores Sea, known as Takabonerate, is the third largest atoll in the world,
covering an area of 2,200 sq Kilometers. The antire atoll is a designated
National Park and although commercial fishing is forbidden, sportfishing is
actually encouraged.
Currently, the Takabonerate record is 140pounds of Dogtooth Tuna, landed on
my
first reccee trip. Bigger specimers does exists, just that nobody is good
enough to stop them.
The plan was to fish for seven days and everyone was anxious to try the
fishing
at TakaBonerate. Currently, I'm working with the National Park Office and
Tourism sector to promote sports fishing in that area, thus official
co-operation has open doors for anglers to finally marvel at the third
largest
atoll in the world.
On the first day, just 20 minutes off the jetty at 6:20am, I released four
Yozuri Bonitas ( 33mm Bibless ),When everyone was taking "cat naps", and
before
I could release the fourth lure, all hell broke loose! The TLD 50 L.RS.
Shimano
and Penn 80 screamed in protest! I fumbled at the 80-130 bent butt and
waited
for the never ending run to stop. At the same time screaming my gut up for
another angler to take on the other strike, but it was too late, the
Shimano 50
was stripped cleaned before anyone could react from dreamland! The next hour
was total chaos and hysteria. It was a total wake up call for everyone, no
more
sleeping! The yellow sickle graced below 30 to 40 ft of water and the
spontaneous shows of YellowFin made me even more anxious, it was a seriously
big fish! The fish was a 200 pounds YellowFin that took 4 men to yank
onboard.
Just 20 minutes off the jetty we were right into good fish, a good omen! and
I
was right! The next 5 days was truly brillant! We tangled with a massive
Mackerel of 56 pounds, half a dozen of Dogtooth Tuna, massive Coral Trouts,
Giant Trevelly of enormous sizes and "tons" of monster Barracuda! To
describe
every strick and fish would take forever, so to put it briefly, we caught
enough to feed a company of hungry soldiers. An estimated of one and a half
tons of fishes!! We even had three Billfish visiting our lures! But
unfortunately no hook-up, Phil insisted that Sailfish was at least a 180
pounds! With his experience, I'm not going to argue! Both Phil and Peter
have
travelled around the world to fish at many exotic places, example,
Hemmingways,
Kenya etc......but they vouched that they haven't seen fishing like
TakaBonerate before.
