ABOUT THE SOLUNAR TABLESR
The Solunar TablesR are the world's foremost tool for forecasting the
daily feeding and activity periods of wildlife. They have been licensed to
kenschultz.com and are published online by us under an exclusive electronic
rights agreement.
Based on the position of the sun and the moon in relation to Earth, the
Solunar TablesR are the first modern fish and game activity forecaster,
having been created by John Alden Knight, a renowned writer and sportsman.
The Solunar TablesR were registered and trademarked in 1926, and have been
widely published in print. Copies and altered versions of them have appeared
illegally online (usually with the actual times changed) but kenschultz.com
is the only website that has the legal and exclusive right to publish the
Solunar TablesR online.
The word "Solunar," which does not exist in the dictionary, was coined by
Knight from the Latin words for sun (sol) and moon (lunar). Knight
recognized early in the 20th century that there were daily periods of fish
and game activity which seemed to coincide with the position of the sun and
the moon. He determined that there were four such daily periods, two major
and two minor, and he called these Solunar Periods. Thus, the Solunar
TablesR are a compilation of the daily activity periods.
