this is a nice plugin for firefox (firebug needed, i guess).

It helps to locate performance bottlenecks of webpages.
Gzipping (where possible, at best via apache setting, or via
output_buffering ) would help a lot... as well as would caching.

Maybe we should adopt the technique mentioned there. I think
especially caching would be very efficient in Mapbender.
