Sometimes you just need the JavaScript equivalent of a PHP function, like stripslashes.

Now there is a new Open Source library (phpjs) that has ported a lot of PHP functions to JavaScript

http://phpjs.org/functions/index

Maybe take a look at the function list to get a feeling what this library is about.

I suggest that the Mapbender project uses these equivalents. However the whole library is too large (about 100Kb minified), so we should have our own php.js somewhere, containing only the functions we really need.

License is MIT, so no problem there.
