============= Deutsch =============== Mapbender Version 4.2.0 released 2025-08-27
Hallo Mapbender-Community,das Mapbender-Entwicklungsteam hat die Mapbender Version 4.2.0 am 27.08.2025 veröffentlicht. Herzlichen Dank an alle Beteiligten, auch an alle, die Bugs über die Mailing-Liste oder das Ticket-System gemeldet haben.
Bei dieser Version 4.2.0 handelt es sich um einen Feature Release, d.h. es warten ein zahlreiche Neuerungen und Bugfixes auf Sie (siehe Changelog [6]).
Das Update bestehender Mapbender-Installationen auf die Version 4.2.0 ist problemlos möglich. Die bisher erstellten Konfigurationen des ViewManagers gehen allerdings beim Update verloren.
Das gebaute Paket findet sich unter [1] und der Tag der Version 4.2.0 unter [2].
Neuerungen der Version 4.2.0 ------------------------------------Zur Übersicht der Neuerungen im Release 4.2.0 möchten wir auf den ausführlichen Visual Changelog-Artikel unter Aktuelles verweisen [3]. Darüberhinaus bietet das Changelog eine Übersicht über alle Änderungen [5][6].
Folgendes möchten wir extra hervorheben:- Der Bereich der Datenquellen wurde überarbeitet. Zukünftig können neue Datenquellen leichter hinzugefügt werden
- Vector Tiles wird als neue Datenquelle unterstützt - Verbesserung der Barrierefreiheit - Im Ebenenbaum kann nach Themen gesucht werden - Routing bietet den Download der Route als GeoJSON/GPX/KML - Ansichtsverwaltung wurde umfangreich überarbeitet - Legendenausgabe kann via Instanz-Konfiguration deaktiviert werden Docker -----------Das Mapbender Projekt stellt nun auch auf dockerHub Images bereit [7]. Für die Version 4.2.0 liegt nun eine neue Version bereit.

Umstieg auf die neue Version ------------------------------------------- PHP 8.1 ist die älteste unterstützte PHP-Version. Wir empfehlen Ihnen ein Update auf Mapbender 4.2.0. Ein Update von 3.3.x auf Version 4.2.0 ist möglich. Es gibt aber ein paar Schritte zu beachten. Lesen Sie daher unbedingt das Dokument UPGRADING.md [10].Der Migrationsleitfaden [11] in die Dokumentation enthält zusätzliche Hinweise für das Update auf neue Versionen.

QGIS2Mapbender ---------------------------QGIS2Mapbender [13] ist ein QGIS Plugin übre das QGIS-Projekte auf einen Server übertragen werden können und via QGIS Server als WMS Dienst veröffentlicht werden können. Der neue WMS kann dann direkt über das Plugin in eine Mapbender-Anwendung übernommen werden. Das Plugin QGIS2Mapbender liegt nun in der Version 1.0.0 vor und nutzt für die Prozesse die Mapbender API.

============= English =============== Mapbender version 4.2.0 released 2025-08-27 Hello Mapbender community,the Mapbender development team has released Mapbender version 4.2.0 on 27. August 2025. Thanks a lot to all people involved, including those who reported bugs via the mailing list or the github issue system.
Version 4.2.0 is a feature release, i.e. there are a new features as well as bug fixes waiting for you (see Changelog [6]).
Existing Mapbender installations can be updated to version 4.2.0 without any problems. However, any ViewManager configurations created to date will be lost during the update.
The built package can be found at [1] and the version 4.2.0 tag at [2]. New features of version 4.2.0 -------------------------------------For an overview of the new features in the Major Release 4.2.0, we would like to refer you to the detailed Visual Changelog News [4]
The changelog also provides a list of all changes [5][6]. We would like to highlight the following features:- The data sources section has been revised. In future, new data sources can be added more easily
- Vector tiles are supported as a new data source - Improved accessibility - The layer tree can be searched by layers - Routing offers the option to download the route as GeoJSON/GPX/KML - ViewManager has been extensively revised - Legend output can be deactivated via instance configuration Docker -------The Mapbender project now also provides dockerHub images [7]. For the release 4.2.0 is a new version available.

Switching to the new version ----------------------------PHP 8.1 is the oldest supported PHP version. PHP 8.2 and PHP 8.3 are fully supported. An update from 3.3.x to version 4.2.0 is possible. However, there are a few steps to follow.
It is therefore essential that you read the document UPGRADING.md [10].The migration guide in the documentation contains additional information on updating to new versions [11]

QGIS2Mapbender --------------QGIS2Mapbender [13] is a QGIS plugin that can be used to transfer QGIS projects to a server and publish them as a WMS service via QGIS Server. The new WMS can then be transferred directly to a Mapbender application via the plugin. The QGIS2Mapbender plugin is now available in version 1.0.0 and uses the Mapbender API for the processes.
