sorry,
it was just an xpath issue...
applying from firebug:
config.objects.mainMap.setXpathValue(config.objects.mainMap,'//wmc:Layer[2]/wmc:StyleList/wmc:Style/wmc:Name','newSLD');
it works now! and it opens a wide range of styling manipulation...
