Usually this happens because the preview shows the wrong part of the map
(where there is no data).
Try creating a map, and set the map extents to match your data.

In the end I was putting the sample in the wrong location which ment it was
calling the mapviewerajax from the wrong location.
Now I am working with a demo MapGuide Studio and trying to get a simple .shp
file loaded.
The data and layer were loaded fine. The layer's preview shows what I was
expecting.
I have tried to create a map based on the layer and the map preview shows
nothing.
Does anyone have some tips that could help me with this?

I believe the correct package is named "DotNetViewerSample".
You might get away with running this:

You will also need an editor for the data.
You can request a trial of MapGuide Studio from Autodesk, and they will
send a 30 (60?) day trial CD by mail.

What am I missing?
