If you connect MapGuide to SDE then it will be looking at live data - and so
will those looking at the viewer. An idea that was suggested to us was to
create a load procedure to load sdf files of SDE data and run the load
procedure weekly/monthly to update the data - as long as the name and
structure is the same every time. I've been told load procedures can be
automated though I'm not sure how.

This load procedure would mean that if you need to stocktake/edit a large
amount of data in SDE, the layer (a copy of data in SDE from a certain date)
in the viewer will still work while you are working on SDE - then when edits
are completed, load the data again.

Also will get around the problem of connecting to SDE 9.2 - which we were
having trouble with too
