You will need to use the FDO or similar access.
There exists javascript functions to digitize point/line/polygon.
Once done, you can send the digitized data to the server, and insert it
into a FeatureSource.
The "Buffer" code in the AJAX viewer shows how to insert such a feature
into a
temporary SDF FeatureSource. You can do the same with an existing database
or SDF FeatureSource.
