There is a user guide for Maestro here:

MapGuide only uses SDF v.3, you will need some tool to convert an SDF v2
file to SDF v.3.
You can use MapGuide Studio from Autodesk to load SDF v2. files.
MapGuide Studio comes with a manual, and is fairly cheap.
There is also a trial version avalible.
