I get this all the time as well.
Just keep the folder after it breaks, then right click it, and select
"Tortoise SVN" -> "Update".
Repeat until you get no error messages. TortoiseSVN will automatically
detect what files are updated, and which are missing.

* I downloaded tortoiseSVN
* I created a folder and did right-click, 'svn checkout...'

And files began downloading to my local folder. The progress varies,
but after downloading 50-100MB, I get an error stating

I suspect that I'm doing something wrong, but is it possible that
there is a problem with svn checkouts?
Or maybe does anyone have some advice for getting this to work? I'm
not very versed in svn usage.
My OS is Windows XP
