Hi, Composite styles and regular old styles are mutually exclusive when rendering a map layer. Composite styles take precedence. If you need both to display, you will have to duplicate the layer, or convert the regular style to draw as a composite style. I realize that converting an area style with something like a hatch to a composite style is not easy, so in that case the practical solution is to duplicate the layer in your map and style one with the area style and one with the composite style.
