in the beginning of this year I have build mapguide 2.0.2 on Centos5 and
collected my steps on

I think the build on RHEL3 was also working fine...
there are other guides for other unixes also

open a bash shell as root (su) and try again.
the sudo seems a bit limited for a complete build
