Jason Birch has created a section under the MapGuide Wiki for Advanced Stylization:

Under the link Symbol Library we would like to organize and create working xml examples of various symbol/stylization templates that everyone can use. We would like to break these down into categories of sorts that make sense. Jason has added an example for a Bridge symbol under a Transportation heading. We may wish to further separate the examples into Symbols, Line Stylization and Area Stylization if that makes sense. If you have working examples of symbols you'd like to share please feel free to add them or suggestions on how to organize them please post them. Please include the Source XML and an image of the result and comment the xml so that it is clear how the template is defined. There are often multiple ways of creating symbols so seeing what others have come up with or posting something to the list for fine tuning prior to adding to the library is welcome. Jason may eventually provide a mechanism to aggregate the symbols into a MapGuide package for inclusion in the installer or upload on its own. Note examples that include parameterization for theming purposes will generally need to be modified to match the properties of the author's specific data so don't worry about property names. You can change these to generic names if you wish to keep things simple.
