Hello All, I have database full of geometry data with no projection (SRID 0). Works fine as is... But now I want to show that data on top of google maps or virtual earth or whatever.
As far as I understand I need to apply projection to my datasource in order to combine my data with google. How it works? 1. Does it really matter what datatype to store in the database - geometry or geography? I am able to store both in the dastabase. 2. Do I need to apply projection to the dataconnection and map? Right now I do not, but according to http://trac.osgeo.org/fusion/wiki/MapGuideCommercialOverlays - I need to apply projection to the map. 3. Does viewer matters? I can use Fusion or AJAX. Actually, I want to beef up question 2. Let's say I have map and few layers. Every layer present information from separate distinct dataconnection (Shape file, database, SDF, WFS, ...) What is the guideline to follow to make sure that features will be presented undistorted? Thank you, Andrei -- View this message in context: http://osgeo-org.1803224.n2.nabble.com/Geometry-Geography-Projections-how-it-works-tp5214046p5214046.html Sent from the MapGuide Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ mapguide-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/mapguide-users
