Mapguide renders data from a fdo data source, so your widget needs
to create/populate a temp datasource and then create or update a layer
which will then render off that datasource.

the datasource could be a session based SDF / sqlite, or it could be
a db table with a session key

why don't you want to use joins? if you do this in postgres, you
can use a database view which has no performance problems
