I think this might need a different solution...

In oracle you can set the default extents via the sdo_meta_data tables
which then is used as the default extents for a layer in MapGuide ...

maybe that works for tab files, but it would be limited to one position per
file

but, much simpler, there is a Link to widget for Fusion which allows you to
bookmark a specific map view
