Thank you for the response, Steve, but unfortunately, that hasn't helped. I'll
remember that tip for future shp file problems, though.
I noticed something new, however. My map is validating with errors when I try
to save it with this layer. Same thing happens when I try to validate the layer
itself:
Error - Error_MapDefinition_ResourceRead:
Library://[RESOURCE_PATH]/LayerName.FeatureSource could not be processed for
spatial info:
The remote server returned an error: (559) MgFdoException.:
An exception occurred in FDO component.
Error occurred in Feature Source
(Library://[RESOURCE_PATH]/LayerName.FeatureSource): FDO class 'LayerName' not
found in schema.
The remote server returned an error: (559) MgFdoException.
Maybe I didn't notice because I tend to add layers to maps before I join them.
This makes it sound like a problem with the shp file itself to me. It still
puzzles me why it would work in Autodesk MapGuide 6.5. If it is a problem with
the shp file, I don't think there would be anything in Maestro I could do to
fix it. Still, if anyone has an idea I would greatly appreciate it.

Delete your shapefile index file (.idx). MapGuide will regenerate this.
